Mr Bean's '£910,000 supercar claim'
Mr Bean actor Rowan Atkinson has successfully claimed £910,000 to fix his smashed-up McLaren F1 supercar, it was reported today.
The Blackadder star's repair bill is believed to be the highest ever recorded in Britain.
And after the year-long work following the August 2011 crash, Atkinson's annual insurance premium is now thought to be as high as £60,000.
Atkinson, whose Mr Bean act returned to a worldwide audience during the Olympics opening ceremony last summer, suffered a shoulder injury in the crash involving the 240mph car, which is thought to be worth around £3 million.
Ben Stagg, a senior client manager at specialist insurers RK Harrison, told the online Daily Mail: "It costs between £10,000 and £15,000 a year just to keep a McLaren F1 insured off-road in a garage.
"If you want to drive it - and it seems Mr Atkinson drives his a lot - your premium could rise to between £20-£40,000 a year because of the added road risk.
"Now he has crashed it, Mr Atkinson's insurers may increase the premium by another 50%. They could also insert a limited mileage clause and increase his excess to around half the car's total value."

It goes like this. If you ask the price of a Rolls Royce ( or this car in question) or its fuel consumption, then you cannot afford it! Rowan Atkinson is a very intelligent man. He interpreted the fool as Mr Bean, made millions out of it , and then to ensure that " a fool's image " is not carried, he runs that sort of car. He is no fool!

Don't be ignorant! Stop referring to this actor as Mr Bean when he's done loads of other comedies.

Considering the amount of publicity this case got, and the way they are now fleecing him, it might end up seeming like a good but of business for the insurance company.

Given that the maximum speed limit in the UK is 70mph it seem a bit of a waste of money.

True but then again people with plenty of cash to burn, use their prestige cars just to show off, that they are better off then most. at the end of the day going over the speed limit and happen top have an accident they bleed same as the rest of us, so its only money Bro. and money talks as the say down under, as a matter of interest we hear alot about Maltese insurance co., how reliable are they

Well it is 80kph on the Mriehel Bypass....
.... but then again it is 60kph on the B'Kara bypass where common sense tells you that it should be also 80kph. But no use in beating that drum again.
