The feast of St John Bosco was celebrated at the Don Bosco Oratory in Victoria last Sunday.
In the morning, a horse and pony défilé was held from St Francis Square to St Augustine Square, followed by the blessing of animals by Mgr George Tabone. All participants were given a memento.
The Don Bosco Grand Concert by the Gozo Youth Wind Band was held at the Oratory in the evening.
The band presented screen and stage classics. It featured new arrangements, including March of the Olympians, highlights from the musicals Wicked and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Beethoven’s Egmont overture, themes from Night on the Bare Mountain and a selection from The Mikado.
The band was under the direction of its founder and director Mro Joseph Grech.
During the concert the audience was given a sneak preview of the sixth edition of Opera vs Pop Under the Stars to be held on July 29. A German youth orchestra will also perform in the July concert.
