Young medical doctor Gianluca Bezzina will be representing Malta at the Eurovision Song Contest in Malmo, Sweden in May after he won the Malta Eurovision Song Contest .

His song 'Tomorrow' won 92 votes after a 'battle' for the points with Kevin Borg's Needing You, which won the most points in the televoting. Its overall tally was 82 points. Borg won the Swedish Pop Idol contest in 2009.

The smiling doctor was announced as the winner shortly after midnight, 45 minutes after eurovision.tv announced Amber as the winner with her song 'In Control'.

The site removed the story shortly after it was uploaded.

In an apology on facebook and twitter, Eurovision said: 'We apologise for prematurely announcing the result of the Maltese final. We are experiencing some technical issues at the moment.'

Tomorrow was chosen out of the 16 semi-finalists which had been shortlisted from the 24 which were sung on Friday.
