Tony Johnson, a 29-year-old Nigerian, was today jailed for nine years and fined €30,000 after being convicted of conspiring to traffic one kilo of cocaine in August 2009.

Johnson and an accomplice were arrested by the police at Ghajn Dwieli, Paola. A bag containing the drug was found in Johnson's car. The total street value of the drug was €72,134.

In its considerations, the court noted that Johnson had assisted the police after his arrest and through him, the police were also able to arraign two other persons accused of drug trafficking.
