The PN this afternoon launched a new billboard on the theme Qabza fil-kwalita' (A leap of quality).

The billboard was launched by minister Chris Said, who said the party's priorities, drawn up after extensive consultation, were job creation, quality education that is free, free healthcare and quality of life.

In this context the PN was committed to providing more open and recreational spaces, a better environment and cleaner air.

The people's quality if life, he said, also depended on secure finances and this government had a record of a sound economic performance despite the international turmoil.

Mr Said recalled that under a PN government, elderly people could continue to work and receive their pension. The PN was now promising that pensioners who continued to work would pay less national insurance.

A new PN government would reduce taxes for elderly who had a carer at home.

More public-private partnerships would be established for the provision of daycare centres and homes of the elderly.

Pensioners would continue to receive the cost of living adjustment in full. Those aged over 75 would see their allowance raised to €500 per year.

People in receipt of private or service pensions would no longer see deductions of the government pension.

The PN, he said, was also promising better conditions for widows and persons with disabilities.

Parents of persons with disabilities would be able to enter into a trust agreement with the government about the care of their children after the parents' death. Community centres for persons with disabilities would also be opened.

The PN was also proposing sheltered employment shelters and more employment opportunities for persons with disabilities.
