Seven doctors are expected to be charged in connection with the death of a two-year-old girl at Mater Dei Hospital in February 2011.

The doctors were due to be arraigned yesterday but proceedings were deferred to next month because one of them had not been notified and was abroad.

During the short sitting, Magistrate Antonio Micallef Trigona warned lawyer Michael Sciriha that an arrest warrant would be issued if his client was not present at the next sitting.

Dr Sciriha said some of his clients were due to sit examinations and asked the court for a date which would accommodate them.

The case was deferred to the end of next month.

Lawyer Joseph Giglio also appeared for the defendants.
