Fund-raising event in aid of Inspire organisation

Badminton Malta recently organised a fund-raising activity in aid of Inspire – the Foundation for Inclusion.

This is the association’s way of supporting and assisting such a noble philanthropic cause. In fact, the activity has been regularly organised on an annual basis during these last years.

Inspire is a non-profit organisation that leads the way in providing therapeutic, education and leisure services to persons with special needs. And this in line with the UN Convention on the rights of such persons, that requires equal opportunities for all while empowering them to reach their fullest potential.

The event was in the form of a friendly team competition and it took place at the Kirkop Sports Complex. It is to be noted that the Kunsill Malti għall-iSport agreed with the organisers to use the complex free of charge.

There was continuous play on seven courts between a number of teams whose respective individual members were coming from different clubs. Each fixture showcased the doubles category, so as to give the opportunity to as many members as possible to take part.

In addition, there was a court which was especially reserved for persons with special needs allowing them to try their hand at the sport under the guidance of an experienced coach.

All participation fees collected by Badminton Malta from the participants, as well as from Donation Tins distributed to the affiliated clubs before the event, were donated in full to Inspire.

Janatha Stubbs attended the event together with Maria Vella Galea, Inspire’s Fund-Raising and Marketing Manager.

Mrs Stubbs expressed her appreciation of the association’s annual initiative. A cheque, with the entire proceeds, was immediately presented to her at the end of the event.
