The Research, Innovation and Development Trust (RIDT) of the University of Malta recently announced that a benefactor has donated funds to help a postgraduate student undertake a three-year Ph.D. study scholarship in the Law of the Sea.

Submissions for applications by International Maritime Law Institute (IMLI) and Mediterranean Academy of Diplomatic Studies graduates, as well as from academic staff at the university will be accepted until February 15.

Under the auspices of the International Maritime Organisation, IMLI is a world recognised centre for the training of law graduates in international maritime law.

It contributes to the development and dissemination of knowledge and expertise in international maritime law, with special reference to the international regulations and procedures for safety and efficiency of shipping and the prevention of marine pollution.

“This is a noble gesture and the university would like to thank the donor for making this award possible. Maltese society will benefit from a culture that promotes research and development,” said RIDT CEO Wilfred Kenely.

Candidates must submit a copy of their degrees and the academic transcripts, together with a CV and a project proposal.

Applications must be sent to The CEO, Research, Innovation and Development Trust, University of Malta, Valletta Campus, St Paul Street, Valletta, VLT 1216.
