Feast of St Paul's Shipwreck in Valletta

The feast of St Paul's Shipwreck is being celebrated in Valletta today, having been moved forward because February 10 clashes with Carnival.

Feast enthusiasts breathed a sigh of relief this morning as fine weather emerged after several days of rain - with more rain forecast in the coming days.

Archbishop Paul Cremona is leading Pontifical Mass this morning - with President George Abela and the political leaders leading the congregation.

The feast will also be celebrated with the traditional mid-day band march and the procession in the evening.

The political parties will not be holding mass meetings today but Joseph Muscat will address a rally while Dr Gonzi will take part in interviews on radio and television.

St.Paul was converted from Jewish Faith to Christianity.

@ Ernest please note :The converted Paul himself recounts in his letters that it had been the Light of Christ that had transformed him, without in any way being himself deserving of God's Divine Grace, from an attitude of barbaric paganism to the Truth.

Karl, did the same media you mention in your assertion cover the focal event in Paul's life in which he converted from paganism to Christianity?Probably not!Yet through Sacred Tradition, this episode of Divine intervention is recognised as one of the most dramatic events in the early Church and for the faithful who believe in HolyScripture was as fateful as Apostle Paul's shipwreck on Maltese waters

Evidence of Christianity in Malta goes back at least to the 3rd century AD.
It is also to be expected that St Paul preached the Faith, and converted inhabitants to the new Religion, during his some 3-month stay in the island.
Certainly he was not here twiddling his fingers!

Yes Ok he would have introduced Christianity to those around him but I wouldnt say that it was he who converted us to it.
