A couple yesterday denied allegations of “capriciously pursuing” a criminal case against a schoolboy who stands charged with bullying their son.
The parents, who are not being named to protect the identity of the minors involved, responded to a judicial letter filed by the mother and father of the accused who insisted, on Tuesday, that their son had not been involved. The case goes back 18 months or so when a boy was tied to a goalpost with a scarf at Stella Maris College and ended up suffering non-epileptic seizures.
Three boys admitted involvement in the case and were conditionally discharged, while a fourth denied the charges and is contesting the case in court. His parents said that preliminary investigations indicated their son had nothing to do with the case and consistent proof exonerated him.
However, the victim’s parents insist witnesses had named the fourth boy as being part of the group that bullied their son.
