Traffic jams as hitch holds up Corradino road resurfacing

Traffic along busy Corradino Hill has been limited to one lane because resurfacing works due to have been completed by 6 a.m. were delayed.

Transport Malta said a technical hitch had held up the work

It urged motorists to proceed with caution and apologised for the inconvenience.

Dak jonqosna!

What Malta needs is a proper assessment of importation of vehicles and control, not to mention population!

Our size is what it is and I for one would welcome innovative workable ideas to decrease our population!

Having a negative birth-rate is a good thing as the 'working to old age population ratios' will even out in the longer-to-immediate term!

In essence, whilst your suggestion is a good one, doing away with that bus lane during the rush hour will create another traffic built up else-where! This is a vicious circle!

How can you pump 20 pints of blood into a person when he only can take up to 10?

Too many people, too many cars! The alternative is to turn all the space of our rock into roads! But is that how we wish to live?

it is very simple Malcolm, flyover will cost a lot of money. All they have to do is to make a viability study to check whether digging a tunnel under the road so that the cars coming from Marsa direction Addolorata road will go through this tunnel and like that traffic coming from Paola Hill and Paola Square will have lesser waiting time on traffic lights. Has this possibility ever been explored?

Yeah an idea would be fly overs in marsa for sure.. the problem is how much time they are going to spend building it? 5 years ?

Probably 5 as a minimum. Add another 2 years for studies, 2 years for permits and another 3 years of hitches. By that time I'm not sure whether we'll have helicopters instead of cars, making this project completely useless.

With power stations promised to be up and running within 2 years means that a fly-over can be completed in 1 month including all studies, permits and geological tests required

Mhux talli jhallieh wieqaf ghal hafna hin it-traffic li jkun gej mid-direzzjoni tal-Marsa bla ma jaqleb is-switch ghall-ahdar biex dawk li jkunu sejrin lejn Bulebell imorru fil-hin, talli mohhu jkun biss li jara li jkun hemm "flow" tajba tat-traffic ghal dawk li jkunu gejjin minn Rahal il-Gdid BISS. Anki lil dawk jinsa li jkunu nezlin minn tal-Barrani!!!!

And what did you want the Traffic policeman to do? Pick up the cars and deposit at Destination?

Thank God for that, it would have taken you two hours if there was one.

@ C Rogers
First of all, why the sarcasm?
Whenever traffic police are present at roundabouts, both in Naxxar and B'kara bypass, the traffic flow is eased tremendously. The police allow several cars from one direction to flow without interruption. Having to give way every time a car is going around the roundabout causes tailbacks. I use this route daily and know what a big difference police make.
