New Malta representative to the UN

Dr John Paul Grech has presented his credentials as Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Malta to the United Nations in Geneva.

He presented the documents to Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Director General of the United Nations Office in a ceremony held at the Palais de Nations in Geneva.

Mr Tokayev said that Malta had a unique role to play in the Mediterranean region due to its strategic geographical position. He underlined the fact that Malta had been one of the most successful European Union member states in safeguarding its economic stability despite the ongoing economic and financial crises.

He also recalled Malta’s pivotal role in bringing forward the Climate Change agenda within the framework of the UN.
