Eriksson: Sven-Goran Eriksson has been appointed technical director of Al Nasr in the United Arab Emirates. The former England boss turned down a job on the coaching staff at German second division side 1860 Munich to move to the Middle East. The 64-year-old was presented by his new employers at the club’s Al-Maktoum Stadium yesterday.

Campbell: Sunderland striker Fraizer Campbell has joined Championship leaders Cardiff City on a three-and-a-half-year deal. Campbell has moved for an undisclosed fee having scored 10 goals in 72 appearances for Sunderland since joining in 2009.

Southampton: Southampton have confirmed that three of Nigel Adkins’s coaches have been released as Mauricio Pochettino looks to finalise the make up of his backroom staff. Assistant manager Dean Wilkins, and first-team coaches Andy Crosby and Jim Stannard have left the club. They have been replaced by Jesus Perez, Miguel D’Agostino and Toni Jimenez respectively.

Russia: Russia coach Fabio Capello has called up two uncapped players, midfielder Oleg Ivanov and his Terek Grozny team-mate Igor Lebedenko, for next month’s friendly against Iceland. Striker Lebedenko, 29, has received his first international call-up. Ivanov, 26, has been called up for the first time since 2008 when he was part of Russia’s Euro 2008 squad.

Bellomo: Roma beat Inter and Milan for the signature of young Bari midfielder Nicola Bellomo, reports said yesterday. Gazzetta dello Sport said Roma have reached an agreement with the Serie B club which will see them net a half-share in Bellomo. Bellomo, however, will remain at Bari and then move to Roma in summer.

Gomes: Portuguese Jose Manuel Gomes has been appointed as the new manager of Hungarian team Videoton. The 42-year-old replaces compatriot Paulo Sousa, who led the team since May 2011 but left to join the New York Redbulls earlier this month. Gomes worked as assistant coach at Greek side Panathinaikos last season and has previously had spells as with Benfica, Porto and Malaga.
