The latest edition of the Malta Music Awards (MMAs) will be held at the Malta Fairs and Conventions Centre in Ta’ Qali on February 3. The annual event will be giving out a total of 11 awards, among them awards for Best Solo Artist, Best Band, Best Song, Best Album, Best New Artist, Best Hiphop/RnB Artist, Best Music Video and Best Metal Band. There will also be a special Best International Artist award which this year will be given to Belgian-Australian artist Gotye for the intenrational smash hit Somebody that I Used to Know.
Since this year’s edition is being held the day after the Malta Eurovision Song Festival, the MMAs will also feature a performance by the band or artist who will be representing Malta at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest in Malmo, Sweden.
Apart from performances from some of the best band and artists on the local scene, the MMAs will also feature all-girl London-based pop trio Monroe performing their debut single Go Home.
Tickets for the event cost €10 (seated/standing) and are available either from Springfield outlets in Sliema and Valletta or online at www.ooii.com.mt.
