Petrol stations in Gozo have been running low on fuel after supply was disrupted by a ferry fault and inclement weather.

The shortage has led to long queues and short tempers as some stations ran out of fuel or rationed their supplies.

The problem is expected to be solved today when a Gozo Channel vessel licensed to transport dangerous goods returns to operation.

Petrol stations have been without supplies since Wednesday. They are usually supplied twice a week.

The problem cropped up when the designated ferry developed a fault. Gozo Channel contracted a private operator to run the service but gale force winds to stay in harbour.
