AZZOPARDI. On January 2, Professor JOHN of Ealing, London, aged 83, died peacefully after a short illness, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He is mourned by his wife Sally, his children Timothy and Joanna and their families, his brother Paul in Adelaide, his sister Josephine Sammut and her children Peter, Gillian, Mary and Jackie and their families. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow at 9am for St Gregory parish church, Sliema, where Mass will be said at 9.30am, followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations to the Ursuline Crèche or to the Salesian church of St Patrick will be much appreciated.

BARTOLO. On January 17, at her residence, SINA, née Sammut, widow of Joseph, of Mellieħa, aged 83, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her great loss her beloved children Maria and her husband Jimmy Calleja residing in the US, Monica Wright and Albert and his wife Margaret, her grandchildren Michael and Steven, her brother Frank and his wife Dora, her brother-in-law and her sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves her residence today at 3pm for Maria Bambina parish church, Mellieħa, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 3.30pm, followed by interment at the Queen of Victories Cemetery, Mellieħa. BRINCAT. On January 15, at Mater Dei Hospital, ROSA, née Mifsud Speranza, aged 83, widow of Salvinu, Founder of Brincat’s Group of Companies, passed away suddenly, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her beloved children Marianne and her husband Lello Massa, Fransina and her husband Maurice Abela, Doris and her husband Tony Mangion, Mario and his wife Lucienne, née Sciortino, Gregory and his wife Kristine, née Borg Busuttil, Josette and her fiancé Martin, her sister Theresa wife of John Tennyson of Scotland, her brother Derek and his wife Lina, her in-laws, her beloved grandchildren Victoria, Giuseppe, Marianne and their spouses, Bernard and his fiancée Daniela, Andrew, Matthew, Claude and Diane, her great-grandchildren, nephews and nieces, relatives and friends. The funeral cortège leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow at 2pm for St Catherine parish church, Żejtun, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 2.30pm, followed by interment at Żejtun cemetery. CREMONA. On January 16, at Mater Dei Hospital, ĠUŻEPPI, widower of Tessie, née Quattromani, of St Paul’s Bay, co-founder of Gillieru, aged 82, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his children Tonio and his wife Margaret, Paul and his wife Theresa and Mariella and her husband Stephen Micallef, his grandchildren Edward, Robert, Joseph, Clarissa and Andrea, his sisters Dolor and her husband Anġlu Debono, Josephine, widow of his brother Frans, Vivie, widow of his brother Karmnu, his in-laws and their families nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 2.15pm for Our Lady of Sorrows parish church, St Paul’s Bay where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 3pm, followed by interment at the Mother of Mercy Cemetery, St Paul’s Bay. ZARB. On January 15, at Mater Dei Hospital, JOHN BAPTIST, of Sliema, aged 86, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his beloved wife Rosemary, his son Norbert and his wife Josette, his daughter Noemi and his grandson Dale, his brothers Michael and Edwin, his sister Doris and their respective spouses, nephews and nieces, his in-laws, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow, at 9am for Sacro Cuor parish church, Sliema, where Mass præsente cadevere will be celebrated at 9.30am, followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery.
