Journalists reporting the Labour Party's tent meeting at Mtarfa were this evening hosted in an old bus converted into a hi-tech communications hub.

The pimped up bus is being used as a communications office by Labour officials at external events. Decked in white, with the election logo emblazoned on the structure, the inside was converted into an office and mini studio.

Nothing inside or out indicates that the bus used to form part of the yellow fleet replaced by the aqua marine Arriva buses.

Election veterans recalled the famous Cittadin Mobile, a coach used by the Labour Party in the 1996 election to transport then Labour leader Alfred Sant from one event to another.

However, the difference this time around is that the bus is simply a communications hub, transporting Labour's back room staff.
