Judge Lino Farrugia Sacco has filed a constitutional case demanding that Judge Victor Caruana Colombo and Chamber of Advocates President Reuben Balzan should not sit on the Commission for the Administration of Justice while it hears the impeachment case against him.

The process against the judge started after he was rapped by the International Olympic Committee in an investigation over the sale of Olympic tickets last year.

He claimed that Dr Balzan had a close affiliation with the Nationalist Party’s deputy leader, Simon Busuttil and was a managing partner in the law firm headed by Foreign Minister Francis Zammit Dimech.

Judge Caruana Colombo, he added, had been appointed by the Prime Minister and was involved in another decision by the Commission in 2007, which had publicly censured him and requested his immediate resignation as MOC president.
