The Labour Party said this afternoon that the PN's response to its energy plan was getting increasingly confused and erratic.

"The latest version is that that - having attacked Labour for proposing a new cost-effective, clean gas terminal to serve the country - GonziPN now wants to build a much larger, floating facility to serve the whole of Europe.   After criticizing Labour for not using any public funds, because our plan will involve the private sector to fund the conversion to clean gas, GonziPN is now saying that this will have a bearing on public finances."

Labour insisted that its plan is costed and credible, and has the backing of everybody from DNV Kema, the Malta Employers Association  (MEA), Malta Developers' Association (MDA), and former GonziPN Minister Jesmond Mugliett.

"What the government has proved this week is its incompetence on energy.  Malta just can't afford more higher bills, and more of the same mismanagement.  It's time for a fresh approach," the PL said.
