Italy releases new video of Costa Concordia rescue
The Italian Coast Guard has released new video of rescue operations on the night of the Costa Concordia disaster.
Rescue boats could be seen in the dark waters around the ship as passengers climb down a rope ladder on the side of the ship to waiting boats.
Thirty-two people lost their lives during a chaotic night-time evacuation of some 4,200 passengers and crew.
The ship's captain is accused of manslaughter, causing a shipwreck, and abandoning the cruise ship after it hit rocks close to the shore.
The release of this latest rescue video comes as several people gathered in Giglio to mark the first anniversary today.

I was watching a documentary a few nights ago and apart ftom the fact that this disaster was caused by a catalogue of errors it is amazing that not more people were lost. Had the ship capsized in deeper water many more lives would have been lost- it was only good fortune that the wind blew her onto the rocks that saved lives and not good seamanship.
