Chorus Urbanus recently presented Mozart’s Coronation Mass during its second concert in the Urbanus Concert Series at St George’s Basilica in Victoria.

As was typical of Mozart’s works, the Krönungsmesse shows several of the stylistic influences that he so thoroughly absorbed and so eloquently transmuted.

The choir, conducted by Mro John Galea, gave an outstanding performance due to its master classes with La Scala Maestro Marco de Gaspari.

The choir was accompanied by soloists Yvonne Galea, Claire Massa, Charles Vincenti and Noel Galea.

The second part of the concert consisted of a number of Yuletide songs with the participation of Ruth Portelli, Yvonne Galea, Hilda Grima and Mario Portelli.

However, one of the evening’s highlights was the debut of 13-year-old Charles Buttigieg, recipient of the President’s Award for Creativity, with his interpretation of White Christmas.
