The Prime Minister’s recent attempt to blame Labour for the voting arrangements for Maltese living abroad was a symptom of democratic stagnation in a two-party system, Alternattiva Demokratika has said.

Maltese living abroad will once again be eligible for heavily subsidised flights to enable them to vote in the general election on March 9.

AD international affairs spokesman Arnold Cassola said they should be given a reasonable amount of time to register at their nearest Maltese embassy or consulate to vote. They could then cast their votes at these premises over a period of three days in early March, in the presence of Maltese diplomats.

This would give ample time for the ballot boxes to be flown over to Malta for counting, Dr Cassola said.
