A man who allegedly crashed into two parked cars and threatened their owners with a knife also refused to allow the police into his apartment, a court heard yesterday.

Roderick Cilia, 34, from Għaxaq, listened impassively as Constable Joseph Attard testified against him before Magistrate Edwina Grima.

PC Attard said Mr Cilia crashed into the cars on Triq Santa Marija, in Għaxaq last October. When the vehicle owners, who lived on the same road, confronted the accused at the scene, Mr Cilia threatened them with a knife and drove to his apartment in the locality.

Mr Cilia initially refused to open his door when the police arrived at his residence, PC Attard said.

When he was eventually arrested, officers searched his Rover and found a flick knife and two screwdrivers.

Wearing a small facial tattoo and an oversized suit jacket, Mr Cilia, who faces charges of resisting arrest, among others, smiled as he left the courtroom with a woman following PC Attard’s testimony.

Mr Cilia was last March accused of assaulting a police officer in Ħamrun.

The case continues on March 14.
