Recently it was correctly commented that Simon Busuttil – in the name of the PN – is setting the agenda for the PL.
As a matter of fact the PN has been setting the PL agenda over a number of years.
Opposition leader Joseph Muscat and his new deputy leader Louis Grech are both products of this EU agenda synonymous with the former PN Prime Minister Eddie Fenech Adami. This reality speaks for itself to the extent that Muscat has shifted from a tough anti-EU stand to a proposal of further developing Malta into the best EU member state.
Reference to this item is practically sufficient in itself but one can easily add the national reconciliation process promoted by Fenech Adami to combat the violence prevalent mostly until the 1980s, and later an item on the agenda of then Prime Minister Alfred Sant; broadcasting pluralism culminating in the One TV station; and local council participatory democracy switching from unofficially fielding independent candidates to presenting openly Labour Party candidates.
Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi, PN Deputy Leader Simon Busuttil, PN officials, candidates and supporters can hold their head up high in the upcoming campaign to communicate the tangible achievements of this PN administration with a consistency that guarantees continued stability and progress for all to benefit from.
