Rabat 0
Qormi 4

Two goals either side of half-time practically decided this match in Qormi’s favour.

Rabat started brightly and forced four penalty corners but could not break down Qormi’s defence.

They exerted further pressure and were holding the upperhand in midfield.

Qormi were looking dangerous on the break though and young Thomas DeGiovanni shot high into the net in the 33rd minute after a counter-attack.

Three minutes into the second half another youngster, Luke Brincat, finished off a fluid Qormi move to double his team’s lead.

Rabat were undeterred and produced a period of sustained pressure midway through the half. But they were stunned when Steve Tanti scored Qormi’s third goal after a quick raid.

From then on, Qormi controlled proceedings and although Rabat won two penalty corners, they did not manage to reduce the deficit.

Instead, a minute from time Jonathan Aquilina took his side’s tally to four, confirming their position as unbeaten league leaders.

Umpires: Luke Busuttil Leaver, Edward Hughes.

White Hart 2
Sliema Hotsticks 1

A ding-dong battle played at a fast pace provided some entertaining fare with White Hart winning by the odd goal in three.

After a balanced start, White Hart drew first blood when Kyle Micallef drove home from a penalty corner action.

Hotsticks reacted but were unable to capitalise on successive penalty corners.

The game swung from end to end and on 28 minutes Sliema drew level when Simon Baldacchino’s shot was deflected into the net after a prolonged action.

Micallef, who was causing the Sliema defence problems, missed a chance to double the score but he made amends on 49 minutes when he lashed on to a pass from Isaac Mansueto and slotted home to give White Hart the lead.

Hotsticks refused to throw in the towel. On the hour, Dylan Lentini’s shot just sailed over the bar but at the other end Robert Vassallo Agius kept Hotsticks at bay with a couple of alert saves around the 66th minute mark.

Just before the final whistle, White Hart were awarded a penalty stroke but Keith Laferla saw his effort well saved by Hotsticks goalkeeper Emil Borg.

Umpires: John Williams, Reno Cremona.
