Burglary: Police have arrested two teenagers after a burglary at Cheltenham Town’s training ground on the eve of the fourth tier club’s FA Cup third round tie at home to Premier League Everton last night. Gloucestershire police said thieves entered rooms at the team’s Swindon Village base on Sunday and stole wallets, mobile phones, watches and car keys. They said two 17-year-old local youths had been arrested on suspicion of theft and released on bail.
Stam: Ajax have confirmed that former Manchester United defender Jaap Stam will join the club’s coaching staff in July. The 40-year-old, who won the Champions League with United in 1999, has signed a three-year contract. Stam, who won 67 caps for Holland and also played for Lazio and Milan, finished his career at Ajax in 2007.
Perisic: Croatian midfielder Ivan Perisic has signed a three-and-a-half year contract with Bundesliga side Wolfsburg. Capped 18 times for his country, the 23-year-old Perisic had been on the books of Borussia Dortmund since 2011 but has been mainly used on the bench, Before that he was with French side Sochaux for three years but never broke into the first team. At Wolfsburg, he will compete with fellow Ivica Olic for a starting place.
N’Diaye: Sunderland have agreed a fee with Turkish side Bursaspor for France U-21 midfielder Alfred N’Diaye. Black Cats officials flew to Turkey with an improved offer after their initial bid, said to be of £2million, was turned down.
Sousa: Paulo Sousa has resigned as coach of Hungarian football club Videoton FC citing “family reasons”, the club said . “Paulo Sousa has decided to leave our football club due to family reasons. There is no legal or any other type of dispute between the parties,” the club said.
