Gonzi hails jump in participation rate

Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi this evening welcomed official statistics showing that the participation rate in employment has, for the first time, exceeded 60%.

Speaking at a PN rally in Sliema, Dr Gonzi said this increase was mostly the result of growth in the female participation rate, with more women opting to go to work. The female participation rate is now 44 per cent, from 38 per cent five years ago.

Dr Gonzi said this was the result in the government's investment in family measures over the past five years, including heavy investment in education and favourable tax schemes for women who returned to work.

Did you read what you just wrote there?? Forced?? How can this country move forward with such pessimists...it's obvious that female participation rate increase..Do you expect that now-a-days after 23 years in school, having a degree, the modern woman wants to just be a housewife? Don't you think that the modern woman has goals to achieve? More graduates = more participation = success not forced!

Do you know the cost of living abroad. clearly you dont and if you say otherwise then you just show how biased and partisan your comment really is. In italy people had to pay a month salry in taxes. In greece they are lucky to still have a salary. Socialist france has started its road downwards and soon will reach Spain which became cripled after a few years of socialisim. Lejber means no future.

Mr Massa that figure can never be quoted. There is a small percentage that are genuinely on that list, but others simply do not want to work.

Many people are getting social benefits that do not deserve, at the cost of the poor taxpayer.

Veru ghandek mentalita bazwija. Kif jista xi darba il lum il gurnata il mara toqod id dar? Tridu tixtru dar, karrozza, holidays, sigaretti u kapricci ohra u trid il mara toqod id dar? Veru matafx xínti tghid.
Mur ara il mara x'toqod taghmel id dar biex issefter lil ragel biex isib líkel lest meta jigi mix xoghol u jikmanda.
