Muscat: 'Do not fear change'
PL beams its message across Grand Harbour

The Labour Party beamed its slogan across Grand Harbour onto the Senglea bastions this evening ahead of a rally at Valletta Waterfront.
Labour leader Joseph Muscat told the supporters during the activity that Labour wanted to transform the enthusiasm within it into new energy for the country.
Standing in front of supporters waving US-election-style placards with the campaign logo and theme, 'Malta for all', and 'Muscat 2013', the Labour leader traversed Malta's political history from Manuel Dimech's dream of nationhood to EU membership in 2004.
Dr Muscat said he wanted to humbly recall the Sette Giugno victims, the achievements of Nationalist Party founders Fortunato and Nerik Mizzi, the day Maltese football supporters sang the national anthem in 1954 - immortalised by poet Ruzar Briffa, Independence, - the republican constitution of 1974 and the departure of the last British forces in 1979.
He insisted that each of the political milestones was achieved by the people. "They belong to no one but the people," he said.
At no time during his 30-minute address did Dr Muscat refer to the Labour Party by name, extolling instead a sense of nationhood by urging his supporters to look ahead towards "a better Malta".
"These achievements have no colour. Malta does not belong to politicians, one party or another," he said to rousing applause.
He said the coun try was now yearning for a change of direction. He urged people not to fear change, inviting them to be part of this political project and not be mere spectators.
His speech was followed by a three-minute feature film showing young people discussing their country's history with an elderly man.

That's what d electorate is after, not just d promise of a Heaven on Earth!
If d people r "yearning 4 a change in direction", Dr Muscat should show transparency in decisions he takes.
In d case of Dr Anglu Farrugia d excuse he found leaves much 2 b desired.

What the PN is doing is referring to what happened in the past, whatever the PL did is in the past, cannot be helped, but why Mr EP do you say that PN is scaring electorate from voting PL. You are admitting that there is something to be afraid of. I vote on results, Malta's economical growth at 1,3%, unemployment at 6%, GDP over 10 billion, when other countries are begging for bailouts.

After years of promising tax cuts our mighty government did the tax cuts in the last budget!!! The silly thing is that when countries are trying to impose bigger taxes on the rich in Malta is the contrary!!!! What I don't understand is what effect would it have a tax cut of 1k on one who earns 60k! But it would be better for the economy if one who earns 15k will have to pay less tax

In his list of praises Joseph conveniently forgot to mention Eddie Fenech Adami for restoring democracy after 17 years of Mintoff/KMB dictatorship, our membership into the EU, which brought a lot of benefits to Malta's way, and the adoption of the Euro, which likewise was beneficial in attracting foreign investment and job creation. Joseph had better show his true colors. Blue ties are not enough.

I do not fear change...I fear that the majority trusts your gimmicks..I fear that the population will be cheated as in 1996. I fear that in a couple of years, if you get elected (and especially if you manage to keep intact your government) the country will be in a dark tunnel. Why is mentioning 1996 a gimmick? That is the most recent occasion when the MLP/LP proved its mettle how it could hopelessly mess up everything in a short period of 22 months. Previous to that one would have to go back to 1987 earliest to learn what the MLP was capable of.

So far Pl's campaign is a positive 1. I dont like fear campaigns and I dont think they work anymore in Malta. And let's stop mentioning the past and the 80s...we want to look to our future not our past. The problem is not that these factors are important but the underlying message of "give me a chance" which is not based on any real policy.

2) Immanigjar ta' flusna ahjar.
Ghax dawn iz-zewgt kuncetti ghalija, u fill-fatt ghall Malta huma kollox. B'hekk tieqaf l-emorogija. Jibqa aktar flus biex jibbilancja l-Bagit u jkollok aktar xi tqassam. Ahna bhala poplu ingenerali jkollna aktar x'nonfqu u r-rota ta' l-ekonomija iddur ahjar.

If this was in the 80's the slogan would be correct, but the pn goverment gave Malta back to the people in 1987 and remaind so untill this very day. Thats why I keep saying that the MLP election campain is build around gimmicks, They want us to believe the opposite, they're using a slogan agianst a goverment who created jobs, create wealth & broke turism record during reccession time.

No let me correct you...for the past five years, malta survived the recession without loss of jobs inc. creating additional 20,0000 more job opportunities, investment in health and education building of new schools and free health service for all (even though we were told otherwise by the MLP), recorde breaking in turisim, reduction in taxation.....
