Unfortunitly Mr.Hawker CCTVs are too few and too far in between, unlike in the UK a criminal is usually caught withing days if not hours, maybe when a new government is elected, the minister in charge will see the light and employ more cameras for the citizen's safety, same as any civilized country in the eu.

Malta doesn't seem to regard hit-and-run anywhere close to seriously Mr. Hawker.

The driver in a 2008 hit-and-run, who the court found guilty of causing the death of a 59-year old jogger in Mosta, got a 1 year loss of license, 3yr suspended jail term (i.e. counts for nothing as he'll never be in jail) and a Eur500 court fine. And the driver has now actually appealed that too!
