The first intimation I received was through Twitter, consisting in Joseph Muscat retweeting his PR Guru (Kurt Farrugia)'s breathless announcement that "a new Labour Government will appoint a Minister for EU Affairs".
Wow, what an earth-shattering piece of news. After doing his utmost to keep us OUT of Europe, Muscat will be elevating EU affairs to Cabinet level. Would anyone be blamed for calling this an outrageous grab for yet another opportunity to suck up to every conceivable available vote? In other words, yet another piece of shameless grubbing for electoral favours?
And is it not evidence of Muscat's complete and utter failure to grasp what being in the EU means? All Government departments, all Ministries, all of us, are intimately affected by EU affairs, it is not a separate construct operating outside our normal existence, as Muscat quite clearly believes it to be.
This is going to be the person who, if his fondest dream comes true in just over two months' time, will have the EU Presidency in his hot little hands.
Just to be going on with the questions, doesn't it strike you as being presumptuous in the extreme for Farrugia to be going around telling us all about Muscat's Cabinet? At this rate, we'll be told who will be Minister for What.
That's assuming no-one else is "Anglu Farrugiaed".
