A 26-year-old man from Lija was put on probation for three years and had his driving licence suspended for one month after he pleaded guilty to crashing into his former girlfriend’s car, threatening her and a police officer with a screwdriver, damaged the woman’s car and relapsing.

The former girlfriend told the court that the incident happened when they argued on New Year’s Eve because she wanted to break off their relationship.

Jonathon Micallef got drunk and the incident followed. She said she was willing to forgive him as long as he did not repeat what he did.

To this, the accused replied that he had learned his lesson.
