Branislav Timotic has joined Tarxien Rainbows on loan from Sliema Wanderers.

The 31-year-old defender will fill the void left by Evaldo who has returned to Brazil after terminating his contract with the Rainbows by mutual agreement.

Timotic’s move reunites him with coach Clive Mizzi who rates the towering Serbian very highly.

After the two worked together at Mqabba, Timotic followed Mizzi to Sliema last summer but the latter relinquished his post before the start of the season after the Wanderers sealed a sponsorship agreement with an Italian entre-preneur who appointed fellow countryman Alfonso Greco as the new coach.

A fringe player under Greco, Timotic had been expected to move on in January with Tarxien his likely destination because of his good relationship with Mizzi.

Tarxien are also looking to sign two other foreign players following the departures of striker Danilo and midfielder Luiz Romulo De Castro.

The Rainbows are being linked with Brazilian striker Leandro da Silva, currently playing for Valletta, and have reached a verbal agreement to sign a Brazilian midfielder who is expected to travel to Malta in the coming days.

Meanwhile, Valletta have made an approach for Balzan’s Brazilian playmaker Pedrinho but the two clubs have yet to reach an accord.

Balzan have completed the signing of Daniel Miguelez Martinez, a 27-year-old Spanish goalkeeper who last played for Andorra FC in the fifth tier of Spanish football.

Malta goalkeeper Justin Haber is also at the centre of speculation about a possible January move.

Sources have told The Times that Haber, who signed a one-year contract with Mosta last summer, is attracting strong interest from Birkirkara while Floriana are also considering a move for their former goalkeeper.

Qormi are engaged in efforts to acquire the services of a striker after parting ways with Vincenzo Pisani and Sebastiano Siritto.

Coach Jesmond Zerafa is currently assessing the qualities of two forwards who are training with Qormi on a trial basis.
