Bank of Valletta doubled what it collected from its Piggy Bank campaign and presented €210,000 to President George Abela and Mrs Abela during last Wednesday’s L-Istrina.

The bank’s chief executive officer Charles Borg was among the first to go on stage at Verdala Palace after the telethon kicked off at lunchtime. Mr Borg was accompanied on stage by a number of staff members’ children, while a sizeable contingent from BoV was also present in the audience.

This is the ninth consecutive year that the bank has joined the Malta Community Chest Fund in this nationwide campaign to help raise awareness and funds for L-Istrina. The Bank also supports L-Istrina through Rockestra, the August Moon Ball and Tisjir mill-Qalb, as well as encouraging staff to take part in the President’s Fun Run, which this year saw a record 890 participants.

More than €73 million has been presented to L-Istrina to date through the bank’s Piggy Bank Campaign since the initiative was launched in 2004.
