The news that Anglu Farrugia resigned as deputy leader of the Labour Party proves that the word ‘accountability’ is not just a buzz word for Labour leader Joseph Muscat.
Similarly, Farrugia has also proven that he was ready to assume responsibility for what he said. This unexpected development has also proven that there is a chasm between Muscat and Lawrence Gonzi as well as between Labour and GonziPN.
While Muscat is prepared to take strong and difficult decisions, Gonzi has shown, time and time again, that he lacks the political will to take similar difficult, but sorely needed, decisions when this concerned his own ministers.
The only exception was the resignation of John Dalli as a minister.
