They may have not been among the athletes competing at this year’s memorable Olympic Games in London, but all-girl pop trio Monroe will be getting a taste of the Olympic spirit when they perform at this year’s New Year’s Day Parade.

Held annually in the English capital, this year’s event will feature hundreds of participants from the London Olympic Games opening and closing ceremonies, among them the sensational drum crew Pandemonium, as well as 6,000 representatives of London’s Boroughs.

Monroe, whose line-up features Maltese artist Kelly Schembri along with British artists Katie Jones and Katy Heffernan Smith, will, in fact, be the opening act at this year’s edition of the world’s largest New Year’s Day Parade. Apart from attracting an expected street audience of around 500,000, the event will also be broadcast in more than 500 cities to a global TV audience of some 260 million viewers, surely an unprecedented showcase opportunity for the three young ladies in Monroe.

Apart from playing acoustic gigs around , the girls are currently busy writing new material and working on their debut EP, which is due for release in the coming months.

They will be in Malta around February to shoot a music video for their first single and hopefully fit in some live shows while they’re here.
