Police in New York say they have a suspect in custody over the death of a man who was pushed in front of a subway train.

An NYPD spokesman said detectives had questioned the woman and she had "made statements implicating herself" in the Thursday night killing.

Sunando Sen died when a woman who had been muttering to herself on a train platform in Queens knocked him on to the tracks as a train entered the station.

The woman fled after the attack. Police had released security camera video showing her running from the station.
