Waiting for their car-driving children to come home late at night is a parent’s worst worry, according to a survey.

This early-hour anxiety is even more stressful than waiting for their offspring’s exam results, the poll from the Future Drive Motor Show showed.

Going to school and worries at school for children were also high on the stress list for parents, the survey showed.

Kate Winslet weds again

Kate Winslet has tied the knot with her third husband in a private ceremony.

The Oscar-winning actress was reportedly given away by her Titanic co-star Leonardo DiCaprio when she wed Ned RocknRoll in front of her two children and a small number of friends.

Kate, 37, separated from her second husband, Skyfall director Sam Mendes, with whom she has a son, in 2010 after nearly seven years of marriage. This followed the split from her first husband, assistant director Jim Threapleton, in 2001. The couple, who have one daughter, had been married for three years.

Kate accepted a CBE earlier this year for services to drama. She spoke of her love of acting but said being a mother was the “best job”.

Englishman speaks Welsh

An Englishman has woken up after a stroke and started speaking Welsh.

Alun Morgan, 81, was evacuated to Wales during World War II and during his time there he never picked up the native tongue. His wife Yvonne was the only person who could understand him and had to translate for doctors.

Doctors have diagnosed Mr Morgan with aphasia, a form of brain damage that causes a shift in the brain’s language centre. The most common cause of aphasia is stroke, but gunshot wounds, blows to the head, other traumatic brain injuries and brain tumours can also cause aphasia.

Ancient Judaean temple

Israeli archaeologists have uncovered a rare temple dating back to the Judaean period nearly 3,000 years ago. The discovery was made at Tel Motza, outside Jerusalem.

“The ritual building at Tel Motza is an unusual and striking find, in light of the fact that there are hardly any remains of ritual buildings of the period in Judaea,” the dig directors said. They added the discoveries were rare evidence of religious practice outside Jerusalem during the Judaean period.

The findings date to the 9-10th century BC, when the First Temple would have already been built in its Jerusalem location. The Jews of that era seemed to have kept some of the prevalent pre-Judaism practices alongside the mainstream worship in the Jerusalem temple.

Donkeys to the rescue

Two donkeys helped romantic Nick Cavill pop the question to his girlfriend.

Rescue donkeys Bertie and Derek greeted Becca Thomas with a note which read: “Will you marry me?”

Somerset farmer Mr Cavill, who has adopted the pair for an engagement present, told the Western Morning News: “We’ve always been into buying each other strange presents. She had been badgering me to get married for ages, and I wanted her to have an engagement present she could look at every day.”
