Reuter: Augsburg have appointed Germany’s 1990 World Cup winner Stefan Reuter as their new director of sport days after parting company with Jurgen Rollmann. Reuter, who has filled similar roles with Borussia Dortmund and 1860 Munich since ending his playing career, has signed a contract until 2015 with the Bundesliga strugglers, who will end the year bottom of the table.

Werder Bremen: Werder Bremen have appointed Thomas Eichin as their new sporting director. The 46-year-old former footballer joins Werder after an 11-year stint managing the German ice hockey outfit Cologne Sharks. Eichin replaces Klaus Allofs, who left for rival Bundesliga outfit Wolfsburg last month. “This is a unique chance for me to return to football in an interesting position with a well known club,” said Eichin, a former player with Borussia Monchengladbach,

Rangers: Rangers have successfully appealed the red card defender Lee Wallace received against Annan. Wallace was dismissed during last Tuesday’s 3-0 win at Ibrox after referee Paul Robertson ruled he had denied an opponent an obvious goalscoring opportunity. The appeal was heard by the Scottish Football Association’s fast track tribunal yesterday, and the offence was reduced to a yellow card for unsporting behaviour.

Aspas: Iago Aspas will not be leaving Celta Vigo during the winter transfer window, his agent has said. The 25-year-old has been linked with a number of clubs, including Premier League outfit Swansea, but Felix Gende insists the player’s current aim is trying to keep Celta in the top flight. “It’s clear that there are a lot of clubs following Iago because of the season he is having, but right now it is impossible that he leaves for another club in January,” Gende told Efe.

Bebe: Manchester United forward Bebe has joined Rio Ave on loan, the Portuguese side have announced. Bebe moved to United in a surprise £7.4 million deal from Vitoria Guimaraes in 2010 but struggled to make an impact at Old Trafford and joined Turkish side Besiktas on a season-long loan in June 2011.
