World Airline Award for Air Malta

Air Malta has won a World Airline Award for being one of the top 10 regional airlines in Europe.
The awards placed Malta the sixth best regional airline in Europe, following Aegean Airlines, Air Nostrum, Baboo Airlines, Aer Arann and Cyprus Airways.
The World Airline Awards are the primary benchmarking tool for passenger satisfaction levels of airlines throughout the world.
Air travellers were surveyed by telephone, questionnaires and online about their experiences with airlines on the ground and in the air during a 10-month period.
The survey measured passenger satisfaction across more than 38 key performance indicators of airline front-line product and service, including check-in, boarding, onboard seat comfort, cabin cleanliness, food, beverages, in-flight entertainment and staff service.
It covered over 200 airlines, from the largest international airlines to smaller domestic carriers.

Good Job!
Any complaints that are being expressed here all occur with all major airlines.... I have experience working in the airline industry and it doesnt matter which airline it is or what plane ex: AC (air canada) BA (british airways) AF (air france) all have similar issues.....about food, leg room, delays, customer service etc...
so GOOD JOB MALTA

Did I miss something here ? The World's Top Airlines 1-200 , cannot find Air Malta in the first 100 .
So they got an award being number 6 of the regional airlines. And what is the meaning of Regional Airline ? Do they mean Island Hoppers ? Mini Airlines ?

Well done Air Malta, but please remember, onboard seat comfort, food, beverages, in-flight entertainment and staff service are mostly considered for long haul flights. You should make a survey to find out how many people are happy to sit on a box without food, drink and cabin crew for a flight as short as 2-3 hours!

Good news. It means customers are more satisfied than the grumpy lot in here. As regards comments on food I just travelled on Alitalia and the food is surely much worst than AM. Also when I travelled regional on Lufthansa I was only served biscuits and juice, so most regional airlines have the same cheap and inadequate food. Out of 200 airlines this is an incredible achievement.

Congratulations to Air Malta even though this survey did not mention the rediculous FARES they charge which is part of flying. It's funny how some people get a good meal and some don't.The last meal I got from LHR to Malta tasted like cardboard, but then I was riding in economy class. By the way I never had a problem with the cabin crew except for once, so I agree the cabin crew is outstanding.

A good airline i admit, looks pretty and tidy, but the fares are diabolical - the dearest of all known european airlines, and as for the on board lunch(extra added charges).NIL POIS sorry but its a fact, so before AirMalta starts boasting , i would in their manger's position first organize their on baord service and get the priorities in order and for God sake come down to earth with your fares.

Mr Reece, it's still 'points', not 'pois'! Hemm.... (Why don't people stick to the language they know, beats me.)

I cannot understand why everyone hates the food on AM. Last time I was served a lovely dish of Ravioli bir-Rikotta and Salsa tad-Tadam. It was certainly as good if not better than the ones I buy from Sphinx in Santa Venera, even better than some I've had at Mishilin Starter restaurants. The bread on the other hand leaves something to be desired. Give me a Hobza to dip into the delicious salsa!

It must be noticed that there was one crucial criterion omission for this "benchmarking" survey and subsequent award (besides the obvioius question as in how many respondents there were to this survey and why wasn't this made known?) was the "key performance indicator" of the cost of the flight ticket!Lets not forget that BoV and HSBC have also recently received "awards".How credible are these

Dear Peter Murray.......we're getting used to your regular missives! If there's nothing to moan about you'll come up with something or other and more, that's for sure . Cheer up dear friend..... if you travel abroad no one is keeping you back from choosing an alternative airline company. ENJOY YOUR FLIGHT!

@ all the moaners and whiners. The survey covered 200 airlines, more than 38 key performance indicators and over 10 month period. So it was quite a comprehensive survey. Coming 6th is quite an achievement by anyone's standards. Instead of accepting the honour of this achievment, all you lot can do is moan and groan, whinge and whine. Does anything meet your approval??
Peter Murray

How many respondents did the survey cover Mr Caruana?

What all the fuss about? There are some 60 awards handed out by this organization. Its not like AM came sixth as the top airline in Europe.
It came sixth in the regional airline category under the Europe sub category.
http://www.worldairlineawards.com/index.htm
It is a mediocre award considering that the Maltese tax payer coughed up 130 million Euros to save this airline.

placing 6th would mean that passenger complaints was more than passenger approval goes to show that Airmalta really needs to step up its act where it concerns passenger comfort. just a smiling hostess is not enough!!!

Air Malta will place first from last for the best in-flight catering :) Sorry but food has become 0/10.

Food is the same on all airlines. I do not know if you have noticed, but aircraft do not have lots of space when you consider the number of passengers on board, their luggage and hand luggage. Personally I was always happy with the service given to me when travelling with Air Malta.
Peter Murray
Dec 27th 2012, 11:12
Mr Aquilina ,
You have obviously travelled on ALL airlines sir to make this bold ,but wildly inaccurate, statement that food is the same on all airlines ?I haven't but on the many that I have travelled on ,all are far superior to Air Malta's fare.

Who are the organizers of the World Airline Award? Although it is a world wide nobody knows of the organizers only low cost regional airlines are mentioned at the top 10. And low cost airlines are among the top ten which are by no means largest and limited to international awards. They neither have check-in boarding, food and any inflight entertainment. So Air Malta is leading the low cost model.
E. Azzopardi
Dec 27th 2012, 09:47
Good but it is useless being voted in the top ten with all that loss and all that money the taxpayers had to fork out to save Air Malta. I think the CITIZENS should have been voted in!!!
I firmly believe that the other airlines made a profit or did not have the massive losses our airline incurred. But hope is eternal, I suppose.

We are proud of having our Maltese Pilots, engineers, crew etc; Well done to you all and keep on improving. We believe in you and also most foreigners do, who use your service year in year out. Well, it got this one! :-)) So, Happy New Year to AM!
Joseph Aquilina
Dec 27th 2012, 10:18
Why? When I want to travel my first preference is always Air Malta because their service is as good as any other larger air liner and far better then low cost air lines (which sometimes you finish paying the same amount as you would have paid for an Air Malta ticket after tacking account of all the hidden charges). So why would you not give them your award?
