New Air Malta roster would cause hardships for workers
Air Malta employees are disillusioned at proposals being made for the introduction of a new roster, the implementation of which would cause them unnecessary hardship.
The General Workers’ Union said in a statement this morning that the software to draw up this roster cost the company €30,000 and it had been paying €1,000 a month since April to keep the system going.
The GWU said it has been objecting to the new roster and its implementation has been postponed three times. It said it would not allow workers to suffer unnecessarily and requested the company to evaluate the roster considering its benefits and repercussions.
The union promised to continue to work for a solution to be found.

B`kull rispett sur Formosa. Xi tridha taghmel il-union meta l-istess union bieghet u dahqet bil-haddiema u dawk li kienu shabkom li ippretendew u ippuzaw li kienu xi tradejunonisti tradewkom u kienu mixtrija minn demkom u demm ta` dawk li telqu mill-kumpanija. Il-GWU hija traditur tal-haddiema. Issa naraw x`taghmel bi Grech li kien jiekol u jhawwad maghha!!!

Air Malta is still financially in difficulties. Obviously employees as usual will carry most of the burden.Such situation will be protracted . It has to continue for long years. Those who think that a change in government will solve anything are dreaming.Nothing will change with what these foreign people a doing. If the intention of the government is to sell AM, it will be anygoverment future aim.

gwu would rather see Airmalta being sent into receivership. Practically a deja vu, similar to what happened to Seamalta. But Gwu is never happy irrespective of anything. Unions elsewhere are fighting to keep their members in jobs not arguing on rosters.

Can Air Malta and/or gwu come clean on this issue? And state who is going to be affected with this EASYROSTER system?.Is it cargo section/flight operations/checkin-staff/loaders and/or ground handling clerical staff.?Since some departments are still operating like there is no restructuring and other departments are taking all the flak!

The GWU is never happy, whatever Air Malta does, they always want their way or nothing.

The title is misleading. It is a known fact that Management is paying good money on these new software contracts with out the proper scrutiny to see that these truly work. This is about ground handling staff and the problem of throwing away experienced personnel and spending tax payers money on new contracts that don't work is damaging the very progress needed in modernizing the airline.

How pathetic. First the pilots complain that their facilities at the new building are not adequate. Now the GWU complaining about the employee roster, that leaves the Cabin Crew in question, and all this after our Financial Minister just pumped 200,000,000Million euros of the TAX PAYER's money into the airline. But we do have bright colours on our aircraft. Is the cancer at Air Malta spreading.

All employees should be paid for work done and not for when they punch in and punch out . what are the hardships mentioned ? Are they a reduction in overtime paid for nothing being done ?

Is this by any chance because the roster will finally reflect the demands of the paying customer?

I feel another thoroughly deserved "Award "for Air Malta coming on but in the meantime what exactly are ghese "hardships " and "sufferings " as claimed by the GWU that are being endured by the few remaining Air Malta staff?

Maybe if AirMalta wound up and the workers would be at home doing nothing will solve the GWU problem

Agree. It seems that Air Malta's position is creeping towards the Drydocks' way.

I agree with C. Camilleri. And that is also thanks to the GWU.

What a coincidence! We were told that Malta because Air flied in the air was ranked the 6th from nowhere to believe. Imagine how an organization can take awards when their employees are fed up and demotivated and disillusioned. It seems the usual political machinery to attain some cheap votes from crap marketing!!!!

Air Malta employees fed up!!!!!!! How about us taxpayers, aren't we also fed up? Paying taxes for a bankrupt airline!

Did you notice that the GWU in all its glory did not shed A SINGLE LINE on what these hardships are? Of course not, you (I do not wonder why) show sadness when Air Malta gets an award - and call it a lie. However if the GWU says something - and not all of it - then obviously they must be speaking the truth! I now understand what you mean by political machinery!

John vella....notwithstanding, against all oddsair malta is still alive and kicking, no thanks to people like you. Or did you do the same for the drydocks workers too...
