Police catch choker thief
A man who earlier today snatched a gold choker from an elderly woman and ran off has been caught by Mobile Squad police.
The man, who is allegedly just out of prison, committed the theft in Triq San Tumas, Luqa, at 12.45pm.
A report was lodged with the police, who caught the man in Triq il-Karmnu some time later.

Good job by the Police. Pity that Court sentences do not reflect the crime.
Instead of sending offenders to be 'reformed' at Paola, a few solid hours of community work with those in real need would surely bring better results.

Yes sure, and put the lives of those who are in real need in bigger trouble. Very good point indeed.

@Pierre Micallef-Grimaud, hi there old friend, if only all the members of the force are dedicated as you were in all these years, I too join the rest of you to salute all the hard working boys. I also hope the Police Commissioner opens his eyes to so much cruelty perpetrated by the few thugs that terrorize victims and uphold and aid criminals. They should be interdicted, from public office.

Standing Ovation, Three Cheers, Hip hip Hurrah, Well-done, ....... but isnt Prison suppose to be a reformative Institution, that is costing the taxpayer a bundle? Was the opposition right to say the Prisons are a total flop? Of course Hip Hip Hurrah, .... more dust under the carpet.

Very well done by the police. this is what the public wants, quick action and positive results. Hope that the court will also act with the same speed. Only such actions will bring rest of mind to the general public.

Well done police. One just hopes that their hard work is not ruined by some magistrate handing down a risible sentence, as has often happened.

is this your priority, cars that are parked wrongly, you prefer that the police give tickets instead of catching criminals, do you get a commission from ticket fines? happy Christmas to all the police especially the ones on duty to day.

Cars parked wrongly? Leave that to the wardens......the Police's 1st priority should be crime stopping!!

Wish you could join the Force for some days perhaps you'd figure out how difficult it is to solve each and every crime.
