Forthcoming electoral debate will reflect country's democratic credentials - PM
The country will continue to show its democratic credentials next year as it debates the choices the people will be voting upon for the next five years, Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi said.
In his Christmas message, the Prime Minister said that the debate will centre on how the country can continue to build upon its acquisitions and on the best choices for the future.
The Prime Minister also said that in the coming weeks, the government will continue to negotiate on Malta’s financial package from the EU for 2014 to 2020.
These were tough negotiations but the government would work to get the best for the country.
In 2017, Malta would take on European Presidency and European eyes would be on Malta, the decisions it took and how it took them.
This was a major responsibility which the government had to shoulder wisely for the benefit of all Maltese and Gozitans.

The difference between the PN and MLP is zero. Both of them are there to try to steal people`s votes. They hold the politics of arrogance and dirt. The MLP is trying to project an image of unity when the leader was the first to stuck a digger in the back of his assistant. Think when in power. Please Note: being statistically 'poor' and in reality being poor is a world apart. I can think of some people in the 'poor' region, some of which own some beautiful houses, kids at university and some can even afford expensive hobbies. Happy christmas all

Poverty is when an MLP government deprives you of necessities such as wholesome running water, food items, desserts, electronic media apparatus, essential services such as reliable telephones and computers unless through black marketeers in the service of honourable MLP ministers or going abroad yourself to become a miniature contrabandist.

If you think that with your comments your are convincing you are not. Christmas speeches in previous years from either PL or PN government have always been the same like this one.
PL watch out for the earthquake that has started you are going to be surprised.

Why address the PL commenters only, wasn't it Gonzi who first turned a Christmas speech into a political one. The Prime Minister should have set the example and left politics out of his speech. As prime Minister he should have wished the Maltese Nation a Blessed Christmas and a Happy New Year and left it at that.

I have come to a time to be very unsure on whom to really trust.
II would have preferred to see a resignation from the ones responsible for the Xarabank fiasco when Dr Farrugia was replaced by Dr Debono.Who used who as a scapegoat?
