The story of the Wizard of Oz, written for children more than 100 years ago, has captivated people of all ages for decades.

This Christmas the panto is taking its audience on a breathless trip down the Yellow Brick Road

This Christmas it is taking the audience at the MFCC in Ta’ Qali on a breathless journey down the Yellow Brick Road.

In MADC’s production of The Wizard of Oz – The Panto, Toto, Scarecrow, Tin Man and the Cowardly Lion accompany Dorothy in her ruby red shoes as she battles the infamous wicked witch and her flying monkeys.

The troupe is on its way to meet the wonderful Wizard of Oz – the only person who can grant them what they desire most in the world.

As they hop from one enchanted land to another, they are joined by the hilarious dame from Oz Vegas, Alan Montanaro.

Penned by Mr Montanaro himself, and co-directed by Marco Calleja and Denise Mulholland, MADC’s 35th Christmas Panto stars Bettina Paris and Philippa Cassar as Dorothy and Isabel Warrington as the Witch.

The show first raised its curtains on Saturday and will be on between Wednesday and Sunday, and then from January 2 until January 6 at 8pm.

Matinees are at 3pm on December 29 and 30, and January 5 and 6.
