Teachers in Church schools will be given laptops at the beginning of next year, according to a statement by the Private Schools Association’s Church schools committee. However, it explained that since an agreement for the procurement of laptops for teachers in Church schools was not reached, they are being bought and paid for by the schools themselves using funds that are part of arrears due to Church schools by the State and which were made available for this purpose.

The committee added that the Church schools authorities had long argued that teachers in such schools should be given the same resources as their counterparts in State schools, who had been given laptops in 2009. It said some 16,000 children attending Church schools would benefit from this decision.
