Id-Dar tal-Providenza, the home for people with disabilities in Siġġiewi, will be holding its annual fundraising marathon on New Year’s Day.

Titled Festa ta’ Generosita’ (Feast of Generosity), this year’s event will be centred around an Open Day of some of the home’s facilities.

Fr Martin Micallef, director of the home, said visitors will be able to meet residents, enjoy a varied programme of entertainment and make their donations.

Id-Dar tal-Providenza is home to 98 people with mental or physical disabilities who can no longer live with their families. It also runs another two smaller homes for residents who can look after themselves with some help.

The January 1 activity is being coordinated by RTK Radio. Activities kick off at 9am with Mass. Entertainment include Freddie Portelli, Ira Losco, Hooligan, J Anvil and Fr Karm Debattista, among others. There will also be an art auction.

To avoid traffic congestion, a park-and-ride service will be available from Triq San Niklaw (the old airfield) to Id-Dar tal-Providenza.
