Sliema Hotsticks once again showed their fighting spirit as they hit back from two goals down to force a 2-2 draw.

Young Stars started strongly, winning four penalty corners in the first 20 minutes, but their pressure did not bear fruit.

Undeterred, they won another penalty corner in the 25th minute and Mark Camilleri netted his shot via a deflection.

Two minutes later, Camilleri notched his second goal from another penalty corner action.

Hotsticks reacted immediately and in the 28th minute, Simon Baldacchino reduced the arrears, scoring from a sharp angle after a fine move.

The second half developed into a midfield battle with both teams giving no space.

Hotsticks managed to win a penalty corner in the 50th minute and Steve Portelli converted in style to equalise. Young Stars went back on the attack and in the 60th minute, Joseph Dalli fluffed an easy chance to put them ahead.

Although they applied further pressure, the final whistle sounded with the game ending with honours even.

Qormi 2

White Hart put on a spirited display and it took Qormi 60 minutes to break the stalemate. They made sure of winning the game when hitting their second goal in the 67th minute.

Qormi won three penalty corners in the first 14 minutes but they could not break down the well-marshalled White Hart defence.

As the game progressed, midfield play took over with tight marking being the order of the day.

Although Qormi won another two penalty corners, the score remained goalless.

Qormi stayed on the offensive as the second half got under way.

After winning two penalty corners by the 52nd minute, veteran Rudolph Camilleri hit the post in the 56th.

Qormi continued to dictate matters and in the 60th minute, Steve Tanti netted off a Camilleri rebound.

Qormi’s efforts were rewarded with a second goal three minutes from time when Juan Sarcia scored from another short corner action.
