Espinoza: Honduras midfielder Roger Espinoza has been given the green light to join Premier League club Wigan in January after being granted a work permit in the UK. A decision by a FA panel gave the 26-year-old the all-clear to join the Latics when his contract with MLS side Kansas expires this month.

Ajaccio: French top flight side Ajaccio, just three points off the drop zone, yesterday sacked coach Alex Dupont, chairman Alain Orsoni said in noting what he termed “a divorce between the coach and his players.” Dupont, who only arrived in June, will be replaced in the interim by assistants Stephane Paganelli and Thierry Debes, Orsoni told the club website.

Leverkusen: Bayer Leverkusen have confirmed the signing of 18-year-old Poland forward Arkadiusz Milik from Gornik Zabrze. Milik has penned a five-and-a-half year deal with the Bundesliga club and will join up with his new team-mates at their winter training camp in Portugal on January 3. “Arkadiusz Milik is considered to be possibly the biggest rising star in Poland at the moment,” Leverkusen director Rudi Voller told the club website.

Zenit: The largest fan group of Zenit SP have demanded the club refrain from buying black and gay players following turmoil surrounding the acquisition of striker Hulk. “We’re not racists but we see the absence of black players at Zenit as an important tradition,” fan club Landscrona said. “It would allow Zenit to maintain the national identity of the club, which is the symbol of St Petersburg.”
