Working as a professional artist
Interview with Rupert Cefai - painter
An interior designer by profession, Rupert Cefai trained in art under the tutelage of Harry Alden and Alfred Chircop.
Eight years ago he decided to shift from his profession to focus on painting. Today he is dedicating his time solely to producing art – mainly painting, with a mixture of various other media.
Being a professional painter in Malta is not common and one wonders how an artist can produce enough work to ensure he can feed a family and live off what comes out of his studio. Yet Cefai is proud of, and loves what he does, and can’t imagine himself doing anything else. He has already exhibited successfully abroad, promotes his work and is making a name for himself. The rest is hard work and very long hours in his studio in Naxxar.
