Vatican-based Centesimus Annus Pro Pontefice Foundation recently held its board meet-ing in Malta. Foundation president Domingo Sugranyes Bickel and board members stayed at the Xara Palace Relais and Chateaux and held their board meeting and dinner at the 17th-century Palazzo de Piro.

The palazzo, acquired by the Metropolitan Cathedral Chapter, was recently restored to promote dialogue, thinking and artistic events.

Established in 1993, the 500-member foundation, which has an active Malta Chapter presided over by Joseph F. X. Zahra, promotes the social teachings of the Church and of the activity of the Holy See among socially-motivated professional leaders around the world.

The foundation aims to spread the human, ethical, social and Christian values named in the papal letter, and support the late Pontiff’s charit-able initiatives through fund-raising.

During his visit and various meetings and seminars in Malta, Dr Sugranyes Bickel explained that “Malta is a place where many people in business are also active in the Church, so it is an ideal place for the foundation to carry out its work and to inspire them to think aboutand analyse Catholic social teaching.”

In his communication to Infinitely Xara management, Massimo Gattamelata, secretary general of the foundation, expressed his appreciation and thanks for the hospitality showed during their stay at the Xara Palace.
