Borussia Dortmund yesterday dismissed a report Poland striker Robert Lewandowski is set to leave the German champions at the end of the season, with Manchester City as a likely destination.

“At the moment there is neither a request, nor an offer for Robert Lewandowski,” Dortmund director Michael Zorc said.

German magazine Focus had quoted a Borussia board member as saying “Robert Lewandowski’s departure at season’s end is a done deal”, but Dortmund chairman Hans-Joachim Watzke joined Zorc in dismissing the report.

“The report lacks any basis. I cannot see why a board should say something like that,” he insisted after Lewandowski scored 22 goals in 34 Bundesliga games last season.

Lewandowski has a contract with Dortmund until June 2014 and Focus also claim Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko had been offered in exchange for Lewandowski.
